Like most UK Homeowners during COVID 2021, our founder Van, hired Tradespeople from a reputable website to renovate his home. Unfortunately for him, they turned out rogue, leaving the property unlivable. Van left his job and vacated his family to handle the stressful ordeal for months.

Van realised being on one reputable website wasn't enough. He figured out that by thoroughly cross-checking the same Tradesperson from multiple sources, he could (go beyond potentially fake reviews) get a better sense of whom he wanted to hire.
On February 18th 2023, Van and his brother launched KnowAPro based on this idea.

The UK economy loses £10bn due to fear of hiring Tradespeople. It's 2023 and the problem still exists. We believe platforms out there today are not enough, and that there is significant room for improvement.
Protect Homeowners with Transparency
Through observations, we've identified key traits of rogue Tradesperson:
- Open to easily restarting their reputation (and closing company).
- Resistance to transparency.
- Good manipulators - this one can be hard to tell.
KnowAPro today has been built against these weaknesses making it easier to tell.
